I have ED and nothing helps including Viagra and Cialis

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Question by anonymous visitor:

Hello. I have experienced troubles with erection (male impotence) for about 7 years since I was diagnosed with paraphimosis.

I have tried almost all major impotence pills, including generic Viagra, Cialis and Levitra – but nothing have helped me – I still can’t achieve or maintain an erection.

Recently I was diagnosed with Diabetes – my doctor said that I had experienced it without knowing.

It caused damage to my eyes and I had to have larger surgery to prevent further development of vision problems.

As tests show now I have my Diabetes under control – I take certain medications for it and for HBP as well.

Can paraphimosis be the cause of my impotence and what should I do.

Answer:

Hello. To my knowledge paraphimosis may or may not cause erectile dysfunction in men, but since you have diabetes – this is likely the main cause of impotence. Since you had to have larger surgery it means your body was affected by Diabetes and probably not only eyes – your penile area was probably affected to. As your system does not respond to PDE5 inhibitors such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra you can give a try to some natural ED remedies or consider penile implants or MUSE as well.

Read more about Diabetes and impotence here.

Anyway first thing you should do is to schedule an appointment with your urologist for initial evaluation and investigations.

My best wishes.

I had Cialis 10mg but was unable to achieve an erection.

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Question:

Hello. I am 55, male.

I have been having problems with my erection during the past few years, but this only happens if I’m to anxious or excited.

I have no serious health problems and never used any serious medications.

Yesterday in the morning I took Cialis 10mg pill and tried to have sex in the evening, but I was unable to achieve an erection.

I also hadn’t side effects of Cialis as I expected to.

Could it mean that Cialis (Tadalafil 10mg) was not enough dose for me? Can I try to increase it to 20mg on my own?

Answer:

Hello. Thanks for your question. Cialis (Tadalafil) is one of the drugs used for male impotence treatment. It’s usual prescribed dose is 10 to 20mg.

Since you haven’t had any effect with Cialis 10mg you can try increasing dosage to 20mg on your own.

I am taking Viagra for impotence and now I can’t ejaculate.

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Question:

I am 60 years old, diabetic.

I take lisinopril, metformin, metoprolol and tricor to control high blood pressure and manage diabetes.

I also experience problems with erection (erectile dysfunction) and doctor prescribed me Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate) 50mg.

With Viagra I am able to achieve an erection but can’t ejaculate.

I mean that I can’t have an orgasm and ejaculation.

Answer:

There is a few reasons that cause men with erectile dysfunction to be unable to achieve and orgasm and ejaculate. They can be of both mental and physical nature.

Psychological causes can be related to past negative sexual experience and are usually hard to determine.

Physical causes are usually related to reduced sensitivity which in turn could be caused by trauma, serious disease, such as diabetes, nerve dysfunction or alcohol abuse. Diabetes is the most like cause in your case as you are diabetic. Unfortunately your condition is almost untreatable. Good control of diabetes can prevent the problem of getting worse. But there is not to much you can do to reverse it and get your sensitivity back to normal level.

I can only suggest you to try to vary your sexual life by using toys or vibrators or any sexual dressings for your partner.
It can lift the level of arousal and make ejaculation and orgasm easier to achieve.

My best wishes.

Please advise me any OTC drug for erectile dysfunction

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Question by Steven:

Hello, Steven here. I am 55.

I have been having male impotence (ED) for about a year.

Could you please advise me any over the counter drug for treatment?

I know that the best impotence pill is Viagra and there is a lot of websites I can buy generic Viagra online without prescription.

But Viagra is known to have side effect of causing vision problems.

And as I have problems with my eyes already I don’t think that Viagra is good option for me. I’m here and asking for OTC drugs because I don’t want visit my doctor and talk about my impotence – I think that’s very embarrassing.

I also have high blood pressure and take Hyzaar for it.

Answer:

Dear Steven, thank you for your question.

The appropriate impotence treatment depends on the underlying cause. In your case it is likely to be caused by side effects of Hyzaar – dysfunction problems are in the list of it’s reported side effects. So you should try switching to another medicine for treating your HBP.

There are many OTC drugs for erectile dysfunction treatment. Most of them contain all-natural herbal components but they are not approved by FDA. Read more about natural ED remedies here.

Anyway first of all I recommend you to have some tests done. You should check your testosterone level, blood sugar level and others. Only after that your physician will make his decision.

I had subdural hematoma 5 years ago now I suffer from impotence.

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Question by Dennis:

Hello. My name is Dennis. I am 60.

I had subdural hematoma about five years ago.

I visited neurologist and neurosurgeon and both agreed it didn’t require surgery and would eventually be completely absorbed.

Indeed it was gone seven months later as confirmed by the MRI.

But since then I experience a lot of problems – impotence (erectile dysfunction), depression, dizziness and partial loss of concentration.

I regularly take effexor as antidepressant and 2mg of ativan every day before I go to sleep for my insomnia. Actually there is not much help from both.

Please, help me. I don’t know is that information is enough.

Answer:

Hello, Dennis. Yes, what you told is pretty enough. As your subdural hematoma was that small that it didn’t require surgical intervention – it was unlikely to cause much damage to underlying brain. That’s why I’m almost sure that erectile dysfunction, dizziness, depression and loss of concentration are not caused by subdural hematoma. Your impotence could be caused by effexor as many antidepressants are known to have erectile dysfunction as a side effect. Consult your physician for further investigations.

Regarding the loss of concentration – it could be related to depression.

As a conclusion: as the subdural hematoma was small, didn’t require surgery and absorbed on its own – it was unlikely to be the main or the single cause of all symptoms you mentioned. So I strongly urge you to schedule an appointment with your primary health care provider for evaluation and investigations.

Best luck.

I have consumed a lot of alcohol, now my testosterone is low.

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Question by Mike:

Hello. I am 49 y. o. male, normal body shape and weight.

During the past 8 years I have consumed a lot of alcohol.

I almost completely lose my sex drive.

I had my testosterone level checked – they were 325.

I haven’t drunk for 1 week, but my libido is still fatal low.

Will it return? What should I do?

In my 30s I took propecia for hair loss treatment – for about 2 years – but I stopped when realized that it made me depressed and lowered my sex drive too. Please, help.

Answer:

Hi, Mike. Your low testosterone level is almost for sure caused by alcohol abuse. Imagine that your liver is a muscle. When you exercise – the muscle enlarges and makes it easier for you o lift weights. The same process goes when you drink too much – your liver enlarges and produces more enzymes to break down the alcohol and to get it out of your system. The more you drink the more enzymes your liver produces. It also breaks down testosterone to remove it from your system too, but now, when your liver is ’stronger’ – it removes to much of testosterone and its low level affects your libido and reduces your sex drive. To find out more about alcohol and impotence click here.

Male impotence (erectile dysfunction) can also be one of the side effects of Propecia (Finasteride), as it blocks one of the ways the testosterone is produced. It reduces the level of testosterone in your blood and causes impotence. If you stop taking medicine the problem should go away soon as the pathway of testosterone production is no longer being blocked. Still there are some medical reports that erectile dysfunction as a side effect of Finasteride can be irreversible, but such cases are rare.

Anyway I suggest you to consult your health care provider for further investigation and evaluation. You should also have some tests done before you have any impotence treatment.

And I urge you to give up drinking completely. You should also quit smoking and accept more healthier diet and lifestyle.

My best wishes.

I have semen discharged from my penis during sexual foreplay.

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Question by Colin:

Hello. I am 35 years old male and I have a sexual problem.

It started about 2 months ago.

I have huge amount of semen discharging from my penis when I get aroused during foreplay with my girlfriend.

After that I lose my erection and unable to continue with intercourse.

Even if we have sex before I lose my erection I can’t last long – usually I can last 1-3 minutes. It puts big strain on our relationship, please help!

I used to masturbate but I stopped doing it as I thought it could be the cause of the problem. But it didn’t help. I also have type 1 Diabetes (I was diagnosed with it when I was 12). To manage it I take humalog insulin and lantus. I also take vitamin C 500mg and centrum multi vitamin, 100 mg of fish oil, 5mg of lisinopril and 300mg of wellbutrin daily.

I had my kidneys and urine checked about 1 month ago – they were completely normal. I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t do drugs. I don’t smoke.

Answer:

Hello, Colin. You should realize that as a man with type 1 Diabetes you are likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction at an earlier age, because you have had your Diabetes for a long period of time (since you were 12).

According to numerous medical tests men with type 1 Diabetes in 20% of cases have low testosterone level. So I suggest you to visit your physician and check your testosterone level.

If testosterone levels are OK you should check other possible causes of weak erections. They could be of psychological nature – e.g. stress, depression or anxiety.

Anyway I strongly recommend you to visit your physician to check your testosterone levels because you are in a risk group of lowered testosterone as you have type 1 Diabetes.

The choice of impotence treatment option is up to your doctor.

I feel lack of sex drive – what is the cause and what can I do for it?

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Question by Andrew:

Hello.  I’m 65 y.o. male.

I feel lack of sex drive.

I’ve already tried some anti-impotence drugs – Viagra, Levitra and Cialis.

They haven’t helped. I’m in relationship with my current woman for 1 year, and my low libido puts a big strain on it.

Please, help me – I don’t know what to do.

P.S. I’m on atorvastatin.

Answer:
Thank you for your question, Andrew. I’m really sorry for your problem.

Atorvastatin doesn’t cause low sex desire (libido), so it’s not the problem. Contributing factors to low sex drive can be of both psychological and physical nature. Low libido also may or may not correlate with male impotence or infertility.

Common psychological causes of low sex drive are:

  • stress
  • depression
  • loss of privacy or intimacy
  • distraction
  • fatigue
  • The presence of certain environmental stressors – prolonged exposure to bright light or high-level sound.
  • issues with body image
  • sexual performance anxiety
  • low self-appraisal
  • tight clothing

Physical factors that cause reduced libido include:

  • effects of certain prescription medications, such as finasteride or minoxidil
  • endocrine issues
  • lifestyle factors
  • the attractiveness of your sexual partner
  • level of testosterone in blood

Also, if you are severely obese, underweight or malnourished it can cause disruption in hormonal levels which in turn can reduce libido. Specific foods can also affect libido.

Many medications, such as opioids, antidepressants and beta blockers can reduce libido.

If your level of male sexual hormone testosterone is low it can cause low libido as well.

To improve your sexual drive you can do the following:

  • Give up smoking and drinking
  • Adopt healthier lifestyle
  • Exercise
  • Sleep at least 8 hours per night
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables
  • Avoid fat food
  • Loss of libido can be a symptom of a serious health condition so you should consult your doctor
  • Seek professional psychological therapy
  • Viagra and other impotence pills probably won’t help cause they do not increase sexual desire – all they do is helping you to achieve an erection. First you should consider all possible underlying problems.
  • Talk to your woman about the problem. Try to spend more time together alone. Let your time together be a priority.

I’d also recommend you to pay a visit to your physician to determine the nature of the problem. For example, if you have an erection in the morning – almost for sure the problem is of psychological nature and you should seek psychological help.

Have your level of testosterone checked.

As you have mentioned you have already tried impotence pills such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. I just want to mention other methods of treating:

My best wishes.
